Road Safety in East Bergholt
Published On: March 20, 2026
Road safety remains a top priority for the Council. Recent feedback from residents near the Primary School on Hadleigh Road has highlighted the need for traffic calming measures, including a possible 20 mph zone around the school and nurseries

Proposals for improving safety on the B1070 and near the High School are currently being considered by Suffolk County Council, and this continues to be the Council’s immediate focus
With SCC’s new policy for introducing 20 mph zones in villages, East Bergholt now has the opportunity to apply for a 20 mph zone across parts of the village, including areas south of the B1070. This could make walking routes to schools and nurseries much safer

Further proposals will be developed and shared in due course — we’ll keep the village updated!
