Playing Field Committee
6 October 2025
As most of you are aware the playing fields have a rabbit problem.
It is getting worse with more holes in the North wire fence adjacent to the pond field.
It has become so urgent now as holes are appearing all over the field. Before each
football match the holes have to be filled in so that players safety is not
compromised.
We have three quotes for a fence that should do the job.
The fence on the South side will be matched except that this one will be higher to
keep SOME balls out of the hedge.
The specification is as follows:
120m 1730mm high Nylofor 3D XL fencing powder green.
This is an industry standard fencing specification.
The posts are to be concreted in and we have asked for two gates for football access
1m wide.
Also, I have asked for a pair of gates across the tennis clubhouse access.
Gates to have concrete plinth below to prevent rabbits getting through.
The three quotes are attached
My preferred contractor is Bland Landscapes who have impressed with the work
they have previously done for us and who have access to a full range of plant that
may be necessary. This will be subject to discussion at the meeting.
If the playing fields agree with this there is no money in the budget for the project.
We will need to ask SPF and Council for a supplementary estimate from reserves.
I am sorry to burden you with extra meetings but I believe the situation is serious
enough to have to ask you.
