Gandish Road B1070 Mile Straight Junction

Following yet another crash at this junction I have been approached by a number of
angry residents explaining to me what should be done and asking why action has not
been taken before. It is very obvious that it is only a matter of time before someone
is killed or very seriously injured at this junction.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to turn out of Gandish Road safely however good a driver you
are.

The traffic on the B1070 can travel at up to 60mph.
To negotiate this exit therefore requires a splay of 300 feet or 100metres. (A splay is
an area of clear vision on the right-hand side looking towards Manningtree.)
The effective splay is extremely limited.

The solution is VERY SIMPLE AND CHEAP.

A flail cutter is needed to create the splay. It would take less than an hour to do.
I understand this is the responsibility of the landowner. I, on behalf of the concerned
residents request the PC to contact the landowner urgently requesting this work be
done.

If this is not done, I repeat, someone could be killed.
I do not want that on my conscience through inaction.
I appreciate the efforts being made so far but they are just not good enough. This
danger could be eliminated TODAY and should have never been allowed to be a
danger in the first place.
Why can’t we as a Parish Council representing the people of the village not do this
work ourselves?
