CORONATION CELEBRATIONS

1. Background
A paper came to the last meeting to propose Coronation celebrations in the village. This
paper intends to update the Council on the progress of the Coronation celebration plans.
2. Update on Coronation event 8
th
May 12-4pm
Communications have been published on the Facebook page and on the village
noticeboard and have received a positive response. We have confirmed the following:
• Fish and chip van
• Stonebaked pizza van
• Inflatables
• Music, games and compare from local DJ
• Involvement from cricket, tennis and football clubs
The Cinema Club are showing a family film on 8
th
May, before the event begins. We have
also invited lots of local organisations along, but are keen to secure more. If you would like
to suggest any ideas, please feel free to email Louise.
3. Update on Scarecrow Trail
We now have thirteen addresses registered for the trail. If you know of anyone who would
like to be included, please pass them the details. The primary school are also taking part in
the trail, however I am still awaiting an update as to how this will look. Old Hall are also
discussing possible involvement, again, an update on this to follow.
All updates are now being published via the East Bergholt Parish Council Facebook
page. If you use Facebook, please could you follow this page to enable you to like
and share our posts?
4. Art Project
In commemoration of the Coronation, we have been discussing a village art project that
could be displayed on the wall at the sports pavilion. A local artist, who produces mosaics
has offered her services to assist with the completion. She would work with Children at the
High School as part of their DT classes to produce a weather proof mosaic. The
approximate cost for her services is £300, this would include materials and her time. The
artist has also advised that lots of different materials could be used as well as tiles, such as
pebbles, buttons and commemorative coins. The children could be asked to donate any
treasured items that they would like to be included.
The Council is asked to agree this expenditure to enable us to progress with the project to tie
in with the Coronation timelines.
