EBNP Projects Committee
The Parish Council has advanced from the Neighbourhood Plan on to the implementation of the
Projects outlined in the plan. This new committee has been established to make sure that the
proposed projects in the EBNP are progressed in line with the expectation of village residents
who voted for the neighbourhood plan.

To date the Committee has prioritised the implementation of the projects and an initial priority
was given to establishing East Bergholt Community Land Trust. The EBCLT is now fully
functioning as a self-standing not-for-profit organisation with the aim of ensuring that the houses
the village needs, that is the homes for young families who can’t afford village house prices and
homes for older people close to the centre of the village, are built. The EBCLT held its first
public meeting on 17 March 2018. Over 120 people attended the event, with over 75 people
joining the EBCLT as members.

The Committee has now moved its focus on to the next phase of projects, including the
establishment of ‘green’ projects. Graeme Woodcock leads the successful recycling plastics
campaign, beginning with the abolition of plastic straws from the village. We are pleased to say
that local traders have been very supportive of this campaign.

Peter McGain has been working with East Bergholt futures Group to ask them to help with some
of the environmental projects, including supporting recycling education at the primary school,
and investigating a greener route (cycling or walking) from the village to the station at
Manningtree.
