Update to Burial Grounds Committee
Cemetery Digitisation

This report is to update the Burial Grounds Committee on the progress of the
digisation of the cemetery project.
Pear Technology were appointed in 2024 to complete the digitisation process.
The digitisation was a lengthy project, which included a significant amount of
scanning mapping and data input for around 2,700 burial plots dating back to 1855.
All scanning and data input is now complete and full cemetery maps are available.
All burials are now logged on the digital system.
However we are still running a paper system as one element of the map
development is still outstanding. We have requested that the cemetery map shows
graves that have been purchased, but are currently unoccupied, those which are
ocuupied and those which are vacant This is currently in development with Pear
Technology. Until this time, we will continue to run a paper system to ensure
continuity with selling vacant plots.
