Burial Grounds Committee Meeting.
Minutes Thursday July 18th

Meeting opened (7:01pm)
Open Session: No members of the public present.
1. Welcome & Apologies for Absence: Absences noted for Cllr Allen & Cllr. Wombwell,
Noted Former Cllr. Rothwell’s resignation from council and subsequent committees.
2. Declaration of interests: None declared
3. Minutes: Minutes from July noted, M Hurley to follow up with mins from April. Vote
taken to note the minutes of July Proposed by Cllr. Hurley, Seconded by Cllr. Miller,
Two in favour, One abstention (Cllr. Roberts not being present for the July meeting)
4. Matters Arising: One matter arising from the last meeting raised by Cllr. Roberts,
mentioned that at the April meeting a risk assessment was presented, discussed, it
was agreed that former Cllr. Rothwell take the advice of the committee and work with
the clerk & assistant clerk to create a more suitable/appropriate risk assessment.
Due to councillor resignation it is recommended by committee that Cllr. Hurley follow
up with Clerk & Assistant Clerk. Proposed by Cllr. Hurley, Seconded by Cllr. Miller,
three voted for (unanimous).
5. Equipment: to the committee the report compiled by the clerk in regard to grounds
state, equipment purchased and delivered. (noted)
6. Digitisation of the Burial System: committee read through and noted the report
presented by clerk’s office, committee members discussed the recommendation
made by the clerk and met with the following decision. Decision made that the
committee agrees with making the additional payment of £1,102 plus VAT for the
outstanding data to be filed, subject to the confirmation from the relevant company
SCRIPTI that there will be no more further costs occured for a properly working
system and that the Clerk confirms with SCRIPTI that the following 290 records need
not be entered. Proposed by Cllr. Miller, Seconded by Cllr. Hurley three in favour
none against (unanimous).
7. Wildlife: committee noted the article by Suffolk Wildlife Trust, the committee
discussed the principal being a good idea however it would need to be taken in to
account if a ‘wild’ garden was to be pursued it would need a different yet greater form
of maintenance, it was decided that this can be an idea the committee can return to
after at least three years, due to the current commitments the chair and other
committee members are facing taking priority.
