Summer Fair 2026

The council is asked to facilitate the Summer Fair 2026 to coincide with In Our View,
the celebration of 250 years of John Constable.
It is proposed that the summer fair will conclude the main week of celebrations of
John Constable (birthday is June 11) with the event on SUNDAY, JUNE 14. This
date has provisionally been agreed with the Sports Council and will not clash with
any cricket arrangements.
It is hoped that the fair will build on the success of last year’s event which was
popular and successful despite the weather – and be a suitable finale to the main
Constable 250 week.
The Council is asked to agree to the establishment of a working group to be chaired
by Councillor Marion Burns. If agreed, the working group will reach out to contacts
and village organisations to best utilise skills available to support this event. One aim
is to work with the Community Council and potentially hand-over some aspects of
the event organisation to them (eg liaison with village clubs/societies, the raffle).
