Review of Council Policies

1. At the Council meeting on 10 September 2020, it was resolved that subject to
the addition of an Equalities and Diversity Policy, during the autumn months
all Council policies be reviewed and submitted to the Council for approval for
one year and thereafter annual reviews be programmed in the same
timescale (Minute 16 refers).
2. In addition it was resolved that the Website Accessibility Statement annexed
to the report be approved and published on the website by no later than 23
September 2020 (Minute 17 refers).
3. This report presents five current policies which have been reviewed by the
Vice Chairman of the Strategy, Policy and Finance Committee, Councillor
Roberts, and the Clerk together with one new policy which was recommended
as a necessary addition by SALC.
4. The current policies which have been reviewed are:
Complaints Policy/Procedure
Email Policy
Document Retention Policy
Grant Aid Policy
Health and Safety Policy.

It is considered that all these policies remain fit for purpose and the only
changes which have been made to them are to bring them into a house style
with a statement of purpose at the beginning of each and various
grammatical/typographical corrections. The versions annexed to this report
are recommended for approval.
5. The new policy is the Grievance and Disciplinary Policy which SALC identified
as being a gap in our policy range. It will be of limited application given that
the Council has only two employees but nevertheless the procedures set out
are sound and appropriate and in the event of its implementation, it provides a
framework for resolution which is fair to the employee concerned and ensures
that the Council acts properly in dealing with grievance and disciplinary
issues. The policy annexed to this report is recommended for approval.
6. It is RECOMMENDED that the policies annexed to this report be approved
and adopted:
