Summer Fair working group – report for April parish council meeting

New residents: Summer Fair invitations to residents in two big new estates and Painters Place
will be included in the May parish magazine.

High School pupil involvement: Contact established with Mrs Woolley at EBHS and pupils being
consulted on – 1. What they would like to see at the fair, and 2. What charities they’d like the
raffle to support. Some pupils will be doing a stall at the fair.

Community Council involvement: Contact established and CC will be at first formal working
group meeting on April 24.

Spending:
At March parish council meeting approval was given for spending on DJ and kit (£350); Essex
Concert band (£300) and Constable Hall (£176). £826 total so far

Additional spending requests are:
Soft play bus £395
Foam pit £495
Bouncy castle £120
Petting zoo £529
Silent disco kit + 50 headsets £155
Facepainters – £60e
£1754 total
Request council approval of these costs

NB: We are aiming to find £500 in local business sponsorship. So far – £100 from
Gattinetts manager, and £100 from Roger Balmer Design

Free (to us) attractions so far are:
Maypole and maypole dancing instructor (Old Hall) – also free to participants
Dog agility stand – £3 approx cost to participants
Treasure hunt (Scouts) – cost to participants tbc
Tug of war, poss sack race/egg and spoon etc – Cricket Club
Football activities for youngsters – Football club
Tennis activities for youngsters – Tennis club

Local business support:
So far – around 12 local businesses are taking stands – they will all donate a raffle prize
Plus, 7 commercial food/drink mobile vendors.
