1. Election of Chairman
Councillor Peter Dent was elected temporary Chairman of the Burial Grounds Committee
2. Welcome and Apologies for Absence
Councillor Joan Miller gave apologies for absence.
3. Declarations of Interests
There were no declarations of interests.
4. Minutes of 2

CC proposed the minutes be approved, NR seconded the proposal. The minutes were approved
5. Matters Arising
None
6. Internments 2021 and Cemetery Fee Income
The committee noted the report from the Clerk setting out the financial position and the
internments.
7. Churchyard Trees
There were no objections from Babergh District Council or the Parochial Church Council to removing
two trees to the right of the churchyard and the committee agreed unanimously to have the trees
cut down. CC proposed, and it was unanimously agreed, that any other trees within 30 feet of the
nearest property be inspected annually and topped and trimmed if necessary.
8. Urgent Communications
The stonemason who cleaned the East Bergholt War Memorial had offered to perform a safety
assessment in the churchyard and to carry out any remedial work. PD to seek the view of a second
expert as to whether this will be necessary and to liaise with JM about speaking with Stephne van
der Toorn on the matter.
7. Any Other Business
The cemetery groundsman has been updated about the fact that the water forming on the
underside of the equipment store is condensation and that the roof is not leaking.
The meeting closed at 8.00pm.
