EAST BERGHOLT PARISH COUNCIL
Grant Aid Policy
East Bergholt Parish Council is committed to assisting voluntary organisations and
community groups by providing grant aid for projects which will benefit East Bergholt
and its residents.
This policy provides for general grants made pursuant to Section 1 of the Localism Act
2011. It does not provide for awards for Community Infrastructure Levy Projects for
which the Council has published a separate Community Infrastructure Levy Guidance,
Policy and Procedure.
The Council’s Strategy, Policy and Finance Committee considers grant applications and
makes recommendations to Council for approval.
The Parish Council advertises its powers to make such grants in order to be fair, open
and transparent to all in the village and at least annually.
Requirements for Grants
Voluntary organisations or community groups wishing to be considered for a grant
should write/email the Parish Council and include the following information:
The specific amount of the grant required;
What the funding is for;
How the project will benefit East Bergholt and its residents and
approximately how many residents will benefit;
For awards in excess of £250, applicants must submit their latest
annual accounts with their application
Grant aid is not available to fund individuals, commercial or statutory organisations.
In making decisions the Parish Council will observe the following guidelines:
Ensure all the required information has been provided by the applicant and
is fully understood in advance of any decision
The application is judged to be worthy and justified.
Approvals will depend on sufficient funds being available within the overall
grants budget;
If the grants budget has been expended, the Parish Council will be
empowered to authorise virements from savings elsewhere in the budget;
Organisations based in East Bergholt will receive preference for grants;

Organisations based in East Bergholt or local organisations with applications benefitting
East Bergholt directly will be given more weight.
