PLAYING FIELDS CONTRACTORS

1. East End Grass Cutting

For the last few years the Council has engaged Dave Childs, a local
contractor trading as Dependable Dave, to cut the grass in the East End field
and playground. There is no formal contract, but the work is carried out
monthly during the growing season and invoices are submitted and
discharged on a monthly basis. The charges are reasonable for the work
undertaken and are taken from the East End grass cutting budget of £1,000
which was underspent by £385 at the end of the 2025/26 financial year.
Councillor Woodcock has overseen the work and has been very satisfied with
the service provided.

Mr Childs has asked if the Council wishes him to continue providing the
service for the financial year 2026/27 on the same basis as previously and it is
so recommended.

2. Playing Field Contractor

Michael Hall has maintained the Playing Field for many years upon an annual
contract which has been renewed every year. Councillor Hockley has
managed the work and been very satisfied with the service provided.

In 2025/26 the monthly charge was £300, a total of £3,600 for the year, taken
from a budget of £3,640. With an inflation increase the budget has been
raised to £3,800 which enables an inflation increase to the remuneration to
£316 per month, £3792 per annum.

It is recommended that Mr Hall be offered a similar contract for 2026/27 at a
cost of £316 per month.
