Summer Fair working group – report for June parish council meeting

The Summer Fair is on Sunday, July 6 from 1pm to 5pm at Gandish Road
To note:
Confirmed village organisations taking part (stalls): EBSociety, Church, Drama Soc, Heartwatch,
Hort Soc, U3a, High School, Circles, Field Studies Council, Brantham Scouts and guides
(treasure hunt), 4YP, Old Hall Palestine group, Constable Hall, PARISH COUNCIL.
Confirmed local businesses taking part (stalls): Bill busting bee; Utility warehouse, Orchard
Barns, Constable Country childcare + a further 19 local-ish businesses/craft people etc
Confirmed free (to user) attractions: Essex concert band; Donimo magician/children’s
entertainer; animal world, soft play bus, bouncy castle, foam pit, treasure hunt (scouts). Plus
activities (tbc) being organised by cricket, football, tennis and bowls clubs. and football clubs.
Confirmed user-pays attractions: face-painting, dog agility, smash stall
Confirmed food and drink: 10 food providers – including pizzas, pies and ice cream. Alcohol: 2
bars (pavilion and Benneworth lounge + commercial provider English Vine). Also WI teas/cakes.
Raffle: Money raised will go to the church pantry-in-the-porch. Top prizes currently: hamper and
voucher from Fields Farm, Sports voucher from Constable Park; Kev Colbear garden sculpture,
plus 25e additional prizes
Volunteers:
Cllr Matthews – raffle;Cllrs Hurley and Dent – parish council stall.
Morning set-up: 12 volunteers
Post-event clear-up: slightly different 12 volunteers
Working to get a few more volunteers – parking wardens/for end clear-up
Spending
NB: £2,580 spending approved by PC so far
NB: Local business sponsorship. £100 from Gattinetts manager, and £100 from Roger Balmer
Design. Still trying for more
Community Council is paying for Donimo magician/children’s entertainer
ADDITIONAL SPENDING – £84 on 2 large event bins from Babergh
£80 on generator – and may need another one TBC
Parking: spaces for band at Flatford Lane arranged, disabled parking only by Constable Hall,
sports clubs warned of no-parking on the day, parking wardens being found. Regular parking
information updates on social media.
Publicity: weekly social media posts, small posters for lamp posts etc, large Griers-sponsored
posters.
