5. ROSPA Safety Inspection Reports for Playgrounds
ROSPA carried out its annual safety inspections of the Gandish and East End playgrounds in October
2021 and produced comprehensive reports putting forward recommendations including 16 action
points which need to be carried out. It was noted that the work needed may exceed the agreed
budget.
GW has queried the inspection of the balance beam with ROSPA, because it was new two years ago
and does not appear to be in the condition described in the report. He is awaiting a response.
The manufacturers of the adult gym equipment are going to resolve the issues ROPSPA noted free of
charge as it is still under warranty.
The committee agreed that in future there will be just one swivel stick in the playground and the
second one will be replaced with a different piece of equipment. GW to research suitable
alternatives.
The committee agreed to spend £709 on a new rocker and approved the design.
In addition, the committee recommended all the necessary work be set in motion by GW and extra
funds be requested from the Parish Council, if necessary.
6. Urgent Communications
a) Shrubbery along the perimeter of the playing fields is impeding into one of the gardens in
Notcutts and the homeowners have asked the committee what can be done about this. The
committee agreed that GW should inform them they are entitled to cut back the shrubbery on their
side of the perimeter.

b) Necessary maintenance of the groundsman’s mower, to be carried out by Tuckwells, is going to
cost £3,000 and will last for two or three years. The work exceeds the £1,500 a year budget for
maintenance of the mower. The committee agreed to pay for the maintenance using both this year’s
and next year’s budget.
