3. MINUTES – Proposed by Peter Dent, seconded by Graeme Woodcock, the minutes of the previous
meeting, held Thursday 27
th
April 2023, were unanimously approved as a true record.
4. MATTERS ARISING/UPDATES – none that were not dealt with separately.
5. WEED ENCROACHMENT ON PAVEMENTS – To consider issue raised by a member of the
public at the Council meeting on 13 July 2023.
Chairman explained the difficulties with this. Babergh / Highways have responsibility for this.
Usually the weeds would have been sprayed / cut by their contractors earlier in the year.
We as Parish Councillor and/or other volunteers are not allowed to do this work without specific
training from Babergh. It is considered unsafe. Previous incidents along Mile Straight led to our
contractors refusing to work there. Parish Clerk to enquire as to Babergh’s plans for weed
control in our village ASAP. We will also ask our district Councillor to seek answers on
our behalf.
6. CAR PARK – The Chairman has viewed the carpark on a regular basis and has had no reported
problems. A discussion was had re bulb planting but no decision made. We are open to suggestions.
7. DOG FOULING / BINS –. The Chairman reported that no complaints had been received and that
we still have one spare bin. Again open to polite suggestions!
8. THE VILLAGE CENTRE PARKING / ONGOING DISRIPTION DUE TO
BROADBAND INSTALLATION – We are still waiting for lining to be done. Help
from our district Councillor to be sought. Very sorry for lack of progress but we
ARE trying.
9. QUIET LANES SUFFOLK – following a request from parishioners’ we are sending a request to the
County Council for investigate the feasibility and hopefully the implementation of this
10. ANPR AND SID CAMERAS – No progress to report sadly. Our district Councillor, despite her best
efforts, is still waiting for a reply.

11. FOOTPATHS UPDATE – Councillor Price JP updating on progress. Kissing gates and
investigations into paths from 1986 OS maps that have disappeared

The kissing gate project has, unfortunately, been halted as the agreement with a landowner was
not forthcoming. The landowner has real concerns and we accept his decision, although we are
not giving up.
The missing footpath project is not yet in action but we need volunteers from the village to form
regular workshops to investigate the way forward. Adjoining Parishes and landowners need to be
involved so it is clear that lots more work is needed here and we look forward to taking this
forward. A soon as we have volunteers and dates for the workshops they will be announced.
Once again, our grateful thanks to Councillor Price for all his hard work
