Protecting the landscape that inspired Constable
The new East Bergholt, Constable Heartland and Flatford Conservation Area 2026 will help protect the landscapes and places that inspired so much of John Constable’s work. 🎨
✅The expansion of the conservation area boundaries recognises the true significance of East Bergholt and its surrounding landscape, celebrating its unique cultural and historic importance
The decision comes during Constable 250, marking 250 years since the birth of one of Britain’s greatest artists.
Looking ahead, the conservation area and its accompanying appraisal will help guide future planning decisions and support the sensitive management of change — helping to protect this special landscape for generations to come💚
