Scarecrow 250 – Celebrate Constable in East Bergholt!

7–14 June SAVE THE DATETo mark 250 years since the birth of John Constable (11 June 1776), East Bergholt will be celebrating with a special Constable 250 BIG BIRTHDAY WEEK, culminating in the Summer Fair on Sunday 14 June.
As part of the ‘In Our View ‘ celebrations, villagers are invited to create and display a celebratory scarecrow, inspired by John Constable, his landscapes, village life, or a party / birthday theme. Think paintbrushes, clouds, fields, easels — or a Constable-inspired birthday celebration!
The aim is to involve as many homes as possible and create a joyful Scarecrow Trail around the village for everyone to enjoy.If you’d like to take part, please email Louise at

The Big Birthday Week concludes with the East Bergholt Summer Fair on Sunday 14 June, providing a fitting finale to the celebrations.
In Our View.In Our View includes all the Constable-themed events in the village this year – starting in March and running through to the autumn. It highlights local creativity, much-loved village activities and nationally recognised events — all inspired by the landscape and spirit of John Constable and East Bergholt.
