Neighbourhood Plan

The East Bergholt Neighbourhood Plan is currently under review.

The Neighbourhood Plan is a planning policy document written by the community to guide future development in the area over the next 20 years. If successful at referendum, the Neighbourhood Plan will become part of the statutory development plan for the area. It will be used to determine planning applications.

Committee Responsibilities

  • To oversee the work of the East Bergholt Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group and review and update the plan as required in a timely and efficient manner;
  • To make recommendations to the Parish Council to ensure agreement at all key stages in the review and updating process including budgeting, policy and project focus;
  • To appoint external consultants as necessary;
  • To agree submissions which are part of the statutory process.

  • Councillors: Davies, Hurley, Matthews, Woodcock, Miller (ex officio), Roberts (ex officio)

A Steering Group of Parish Councillors and local residents are involved in listening to the community to form the content of the new Neighbourhood Plan. Members include: Cllr. Sallie Davies (chair), Valerie Ayton, Nigel Downton, John Lyall, Brian Matthews, Cllr. Joan Miller, Fiona Mullins, Cllr. Nigel Roberts and Chris Tuppen. The area covered by the Neighbourhood Plan is the whole of the parish of East Bergholt.

The Steering Group will be consulting on a draft of the reviewed Neighbourhood Plan in Autumn 2024. For more information watch this helpful YouTube video on Understanding the Neighbourhood Plan process.

The updated version of Neighbourhood Plan is expected by mid 2025.

Whilst the new plan is under development we are operating under terms of the Current Plan – “EBNP version 1 2016”
