Gandish Road Playing Field
This is the Council’s primary playing field amounting to 7.243 acres. It comprises
football and cricket pitches, tennis courts and the bowls club together with outdoor
gym equipment, a pavilion and parking.
1. On the direction of East Suffolk County Council, an area of 3.213 acres was
conveyed to East Bergholt Parish Council on 28 July 1954 by Colonel H H
Peel for £300 pursuant to the East Suffolk (East Bergholt) Compulsory
Purchase Order 1952 made on 19 August 1952 and confirmed by the Minister
of Housing and Local Government on 22 December 1952. The conveyance of
28 July 1952 is attached.

2. An area of 2.43 acres was leased to East Bergholt Parish Council on 30
November 1955 by The Official Trustee of Charity Lands and approved by the
Trustees of The Parish Hall of the Parish of East Bergholt (subsequently
superseded by the Trustees of Constable Hall). The lease runs from 11
October 1952 for a term of 99 years. The annual rent is £13.50. The lease is
attached.

3. An area of 1.60 acres extending and providing access to the playing field was
conveyed to East Bergholt Parish Council on 21 July 1989 by East Bergholt
Estate Company Limited. The purchase price was £4,000. The conveyance is
attached.
