Comments on Topic: From touching surfaces

It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.

The problem is we do not know.

There is evidence the virus can stay active on surfaces for a number of days. Some reports say 72 hours, others longer. It is best to keep safe.

  • Try to avoid touching things other people have recently touched.
  • Wash your hands very well and often.
  • Try not to touch your face (harder said than done.
  • When receiving goods at the door or post, leave it for 24 hours if possible before you touch it or wear gloves.

Better safe than sorry!
